The problem with waterproofing-only repairs
Most roof leak repair companies only use liquid-based systems to fix their clients’ problems. That is much like putting a plaster over a gunshot wound: these systems have a very limited life span in our harsh, dry winters.
Heavy waterproofing also traps water. As it perishes it lets water back up underneath it, and on metal roofs it encourages the sheets to rust.
How we use waterproofing
We use different methods and materials for different roof coverings, but wherever possible we go back to the original methods of framework and sheeting repairs using wood, metal, nails and cement.
Most often we then use a standard liquid waterproofer as an extra layer over the structural repair. That way the waterproofing protects a sound repair instead of hiding a problem.
“A lot of our work comes from repairing the ‘repairs’, which most often means ripping off the patch and going straight to the source of the problem.”
