Roofs in Ferndale
Ferndale dates from around 1909 and takes its name from the ferns that grew in a valley here. Today it is a central part of Randburg with a good mix of homes, shops and commercial property, including MultiChoice’s offices on Bram Fischer Drive and Ferndale on Republic, the old Randburg Waterfront.
A suburb with that mix has every kind of roof: tiled family homes, shared complex roofs, and flat or low-pitched roofs on shops and offices. A flat roof still needs a fall towards its outlets. If water lies on it after rain, it will find its way into the joins.
On houses, the usual culprits are cracked tiles, tired flashings and gutters that cannot keep up in a Highveld storm. We fix the cause first and then the damage, so the same leak does not come back next season.
Worth checking on roofs like these
- Water standing on flat or low-pitched roofs after rain
- Blocked roof outlets and downpipes
- Cracked or slipped tiles
- Flashings where roofs meet walls and parapets
- Ceiling stains in shops, offices or top-floor units
